Lantern Festival is one of the most important festivals in Taiwan. In fact, the official name of the festival is Yuanxiao, a kind of traditioanl soup. a.k.a. LanternFestival since most celebration are related to lantern. However, there some unique traditional events. Here I would like to introuduce Yuanshui Beehive Firecracks, the most exciting event, according to my experience.

Yanshui is a traditonal village town in Taiwan. It preserves mansions, temples more than 100 years ago. There are lots shows that developed with the local temple cultures as well. If you come to Yanshui for Beehive Firecracks, you should arrive before midday .
Tianjin Port
Festival of Lights begins one week of CNY, and one week after Lantern Festival. Yuejin is a river that runs through Yanshui Townxhip. You have chance to enjoy the light show.
Kingbus provides the day trip to Yanshui from Taipei/Taichung/Taoyuan with NTD1,199
Itinerary. The bus arrive Yuanshui around 2pm. The event starts around 6pm. The bus will return to Taipei /Taichung/Taoyuan at 1am.
You can also take bus to XinYing Station first and take brown line bus to Yanshui. The advantage of transfer solution is that you can stay overnight since the firecarcks will last until around 3 am.

The event day is Lantern Festival, 15th day after Chinese New Year. In 2020, the major events is in 8th, Feb 2020.
